PRICES: Galletta's Kart Club is a free, not-for-profit, backyard racetrack. We operate as a weekly point series raceway (Summer Sundays) only on nominal, bare-bones donations. For a regular-season race:
Spectator = Free. Donations welcome. Race your own kart = $3-5 donation to Matt, or donated goods/services. Race a Galletta's Kart = Veteran: $15 donation.
Rookie: $15-20 donation. (Why? Rookies wreck more and race TWO features if they qualify!) A copy of your own race's DVD = $5 per DVD. Each DVD contains the entire evening of racing from up to two camera angles (and sometimes more!).
These are not fees. The nominal Donations cover the gas and parts for 12 equalized Galletta-type racing karts, in addition to electricity for lights, water, and none of the above ever cover a tip for Matt's work for the track. Matt prepares 12 racing karts out of his own wallet every single year, always in the red, and the donations never once have covered gas and parts. We run for no profit. Why do we do it? (1) the fun of economical, equalized racing and (2) avoidance of kart tracks that only exist to make money and allow unethical biases, cheating, and fighting.
2010 Season, Event #15- Sunday, September 12th, 2010 - After Arnold "AJ" Nason'sDVD commentary the previous weekend about his backwards victory lap sparked the ire of a couple drivers, Randy "The Bodacious Bobandi" Platt, lookin' all hard n' $#!t, defended their honor with a dominant victory in his Murder #187 kart, which he has worked tirelessly on with Matty-Joey Stevens for a few months for this moment of glory (no holes included, you twisted sickos). Fellow driver of offended heritage scored 2nd. Ran' The Man plots additional revenge the following weeks. This was only step one. Matt, Chris and Ogie joined in his victory celebration, which included rockin' fools that think they are the $#!t but they really ain't nuthin'. B!tc#!
[NOTE: In honor of Hard As F*** Randy Platt, we will be using Bobandi-speech for this page.]
Despite what some local racers and race fans may believe, the passing of Labor Day last weekend, does not mean that racing is done. Not even by a long shot, son. Especially not if you are a karter, as the Klassic Championship 200 has not even arrived yet...
The 15th Annual Galletta's Karting Klassic 200 of 2010 : Will be on -- unless weather or inability for multiple regulars to race forces a change -- be on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010, with a cookout and time-trials starting in the early afternoon and the 200-Lapper starting as soon as the qualifiers and the drivers are all set to go. We prefer Saturday so we can make it a long day-and-night without work or school the next day and avoid NFL football Sunday. If you'd like to be involved in the cookout, either donate some money for food or bring the food on race day, per usual for our Klassic Cookout. Please let Chris and Matt know if this date is an absolute no-can-do, because it looks to be the best date for our schedule due to Matt and Melissa's every-other-Saturday bowling schedule and NFL on Sundays. More below.
FREE YOUTUBE VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S RACE DVD:
Oswego Dirt Karting Club - Galletta's 2010/9/12
(Part 1 of 2) - Qualifiers & Crazy Crashes
Oswego Dirt Karting Club - Galletta's 2010/9/12
(Part 2 of 2) - The Revenge of Randy 45
Per usual, other than posing pictures, all in-action race snapshots are screen captures directly from our weekly race DVDs, which document the entire race from usually two camera angles, usually are anywhere between 1 - 2 & 1/2 hours, and are only $5 each, in higher quality resolution than our YouTube vids which they are made from. Just like the donations that run all of the karts, all proceeds go back into the club (in this case the DVDRs and the website). Every regular season race has been videotaped since mid-2005-and-up, and every Galletta's Karting Klassic has been videotaped since 1998-and-up. Order any DVD directly from Chris (email, phone, in-person, mail) anytime.

The Galletta's 200-Lapper is by far the largest, longest-running, and most prestigious karting event known of -- please let us know if you can find one that not only runs 200 laps (equaling over 20 miles), but also with 9-15 competitors, many of whom have raced for many years -- so all local karters with the talent, confidence and balls have at least entered one or more. WKA, clone, methanol, gas, no matter, this is a marathon of racing skill, and as undisputed small-track Oswego Champion karter Kyle Reuter once said, "it is not easy to win at Galletta's. It is a lot harder than most people think and you have talented drivers out there." Kyle himself raced two Galletta's Klassics (2006 and 2007), and also called Galletta's the "street cred" of karting. Talent, patience, a good kart, smart driving, and a little luck all have to line up to win this one. There is nothing to prove except yourself against the best.
