"You guys are AWESOMEST. Screw NASCAR."
- Bob Galletta
MONDAY, AUGUST 6th, 2012: Sunday saw a monsoon-like downpour turn turn 2 into a small lake, so the race was postponed for Monday. Another good show was in store, but that crafty lil' Matt Stevens pulled out another win by trapping his fellow competitors behind early-leader Dave Spanfelner and not looking back. The 2nd feature saw Chris Stevens and Joe Sereno battle back and forth, but Joe was able to execute the pass on Adam Lytle for the lead around the half-way point. Then, he broke. Again. Chris Stevens took the rest of the laps for his first feature win since the 2011 Klassic 200-Lapper. And when the victory photos were being taken... a long-lost karter decided to call... and announce his return for the next race! READ BELOW...

Oh that tricky Matt! We were all bunched up ina tight race behind the DS Humphrey's #81, but that tricky lil' Matty Joe snuck his Galletta's #3 underneath us all to take it. Again. Damn.

Joe Sereno did it again. He worked his way to the front in the fast Galletta's #5. Then... he broke... while leading... again! Very frustrating for Joe, but Chris took the rest of the race in the Galletta's/Chrusher.com #4.
Tim used his long limbs to make sure that he got 3rd (by a foot) ahead of his cousin, sneaky lil' Matthew Stevens, who has stolen many a position in that low groove at the finish line. Matt was in the Galletta's/Chrusher.com #74 for this race. Like Chris found out in prior weeks, it now has outstanding handling and goes wherever you want it to, but the motor lacks some top end.

Randy Platt called after the race and scheduled his return to racing from his seemingly annual hiatus (work and family related). He also got some hot-lap practice in on Tuesday with his good buddy Brian Galletta after track and kart work - and since Ran The Man is so far behind, we counted it as one of his make-up races...

And now, we race QUAD THIRTYS?! Yep, because Timmy's moving down south for awhile, we ran a rare, special mid-week Twin-30 night just for Tim, making it FOUR features in THREE nights!
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8th, 2012: To make up for a couple rain-dates we've lost and the fact that one of our regular racers is moving south for a while and may miss most of if not the rest of the year, we held a special mid-week Twin 30s night. Joe Sereno FINALLY did not break while leading the race to win the first 30-lapper. The second one saw the returning Randy Platt dominate most of the race until Matt Stevens caught him in traffic late. Now... Matt usually is unbeatable once he takes the lead, but with two laps to go, his brother Chris caught him sleeping on a restart to take his own 2nd feature win in three nights, and keeping hope alive in terms of keeping Matt within distance in the points race! As for the race descriptions, READ BELOW:

Joe barges into the lead with a sassy move in the Galletta's #5!
Way to go, Joe! He FINALLY got into the lead and DIDN'T BREAK to pick up his 2nd career feature win, and his first of 2012!

Randy Bobandi Platt attempted to make the second or third year in a row where he comes back and wins a feature race after a self-imposed hiatus away from the sport. The Bobandinator dispatched a handful of competitors early and appeared to be on his way to a decisive victory.
Until Matt Stevens hunted him down and snuck underneath him in traffic. What... wait... no... c'mon now... no way... Matt is going to win.... AGAIN?!
Wait... WHAT!? Chris Stevens comes up through the field after an early-race spinout in his Galletta's/Chrusher.com #8 and catches Matt sleeping on a late-race restart! He pulls aloing side his nearly-unbeatable lil' brother and...
...executes an improbable pass with two laps to go! Chris pulled it off, the rare feat of passing Matt for a win. It does NOT happen very often, so take a good look. Chris gets a little revenge for Matt catching him sleeping in the season opener 6/17/2012 show.

Galletta's Backyard Go-Kart Speedway is a free-to-race-on and free-to-watch 0.133887 mile dirt oval with 20-degree banked turns. It is located behind Galletta's Greenhouse in Oswego, NY, and can be seen from outer space! The single-wheel-drive gasoline-fueled flathead motor karts take the track between 15-17 seconds per lap which averages over 30 mph (approximately 45-50 mph top speed in the straights). Our speeds are comparable to alcohol/methanol-fueled karts that cost 8 times as much because we use mostly homemade or rebuilt go-karts and gas on a large track; leading to more karts, more competition, and more fun. Our class is usually the largest and most competitive in the area. Thanks to Google Earth for this Spring 2006 photo. Our karting club's home track is located in back of:
