Race recap:
Chris Stevens
(in his Galletta's #8) time-trialed into the coveted outside pole position, but it was Ed Meynes (in his #18) on the inside pole that took the lead and lapped half of the field of competitors within the first quarter of the race. This surprised everybody, as the usual strategy is to take it easy, save the kart, the track, and fuel for the marathon endurance race.
 Galletta's 2004 Kart Klassic
Ed Meynes in his green #18 completely dominated the first portion of the race, but his strategy backfired when his kart had several breakdowns, which handed the lead to...

Matt Stevens (in his Galletta's #3), who was the completely untouched for his record 6th Classic victory in nine years, including his second 3-straight win streak. Chris was severely disappointed, as his #8 kart was retired early in the race when the engine lost power and parked for the remainder of the event (The engine proved later to be permanently un-repairable). He had to take over the Galletta's #5, his back-up kart driven by the lapped Brian "Roads" Conzone. He recovered enough to finish as the third kart on the track, officially sixth because of the lap lost by Roads, but Matt's brother and the only other Classic winner had his worst Classic race of his career.
 Galletta's 2004 Kart Klassic
Jason Mills
(driving the Galletta's #6) did finish the final lap as the 2nd place kart on the track. However, when track officials reviewed the tape, it was revealed that he had caused several accidents via intentionally ramming, pushing, and hooking tires. The above photo shows one of these events. In this pic, we see the late Dan Murdock's last race was scarred by three of Jason's accidents taking him and the Galletta's #1 kart out of really competing in the event despite of some excellent driving that had him moving up the pack on more than one occasion. Jason also took out Adam Barlow (in the Galletta's #2) once, and then Ed on at least one, almost two occasions. Hence, Jason was disqualified to last place on the lead lap. Finally, Tim [Lost his last name] (piloting the Galletta's #7) was incorrectly placed one lap down early in the race. Reviewing the tape, he was officially scored with the lead lap, and surprisingly held 2nd place to Matt for a large portion of the event. However, a slow-leaking flat tire did eventually lead to him being passed and then lapped by the entire field of karts. Brian Bortel finished a respectable seventh in the Galletta's #0, albeit a lap down. Ed Meynes' family challenged the fact that he wasn't in the lead after leading so many laps early, but he didn't save his kart, broke, and could never regain the lead, never able to get higher than 3rd for the remainder of the race. Matt's strategy of babying the kart for the first half of the race (or more) again proved the deciding factor, with another seemingly effortless win. This event was videotaped, as is every Classic race since 1999.
 Jason vs. Bortel
(Above) Jason Mills leads Barrelin' Brain Bortel early in the event.

Buper to bumper racing, fools!
A large chunk of the racing was bumper to bumper throughout most of the race.

Chris Chrusher leads several co-competitors
Chris "Crusher Comix" leads Dan Murdock, Ed Meynes, and Jason Mills into turn three.

Familiar sight: Matt destroying the opposition when it counts
A familiar sight: Matt Stevens (much to the chagrin of everybody else) blowing away the competition en route to yet another big victory.

Several exhibition races were ran in the Fall and early Winter 2004, but these events could not be officially scored in a points race due to a lack of available scorekeepers. Matt, Chris and Ed divided the wins of these 2nd season races. Some of these races, including Fred Werewolf Collin's 1st race, were recorded on videotape and transferred to DVD.

Key:
+ Race scheduled for 110 laps, but scoring mistakes by no less than seven or more spectators and score-keepers somehow shaved 10 laps off the total tally.
* = Jason crossed the finish line 2nd overall on the lead lap. However, he was disqualified after track officials determined that he was directly responsible for several accidents involving pushing opponent's karts into a spin or off the track, including one dangerous wreck that nearly injured spectators. He also placed himself incorrectly on at least one restart that directly influenced his final position. He was officially scored with the final position on the lead lap, which was 5th place overall.
** = Chris started the race in the #8 and was on the lead lap when engine problems permanently pitted the kart on lap 28. He then took over the #5 (which was one lap down and being driven by Brian Conzone****). He finished 3rd on the racetrack (technically 2nd due to Jason's disqualification), but being a lap down, he was officially scored 6th overall, a placement that he protested because he was personally never lapped.
*** = Tim was incorrectly placed one lap down early in the race. He was officially scored with the lead lap, and held 2nd place for a large portion of the event. However, a flat tire did eventually lead to him being passed and then lapped by the entire field of karts.
**** = Brian Conzone was running in last place, 1 lap down on circuit #28. When the #8's engine failed, he was replaced by Chris and Brian was officially retired with the #8 kart.

This is available on DVD.
